ALL DECK Laminating Resin for Waterproofing
Step 3 of the All Deck Waterproof System. High-performance polyester laminating resin that bonds with fiberglass reinforcement to create a seamless, monolithic waterproof membrane. CSFM-listed for Class A & B fire ratings. Coverage: 50 sq ft/gallon.
Description
All Deck Laminating Resin — Waterproof Membrane Foundation
All Deck Laminating Resin is the core waterproofing component of the All Deck System, engineered specifically for exterior deck, balcony, and roof deck applications in California’s demanding climate. When combined with fiberglass reinforcement mat, it creates a seamless, monolithic waterproof membrane that permanently prevents water intrusion into the structure below.
How It Works
Applied directly over properly prepared plywood or concrete substrates, the laminating resin saturates the fiberglass mat to form a rigid, waterproof shell. Unlike penetrating wood stains (such as TWP or Thompson’s) that merely slow moisture absorption, All Deck Laminating Resin creates a true waterproof barrier — a film-forming membrane that physically blocks water at the surface. This is the critical difference between a coating system and a stain: stains protect wood from UV but allow water to pass through; All Deck stops water completely.

Certifications & Compliance
All Deck Laminating Resin is CSFM-listed (California State Fire Marshal) for both Class A and Class B fire ratings, and is LADBS-approved (Los Angeles Department of Building & Safety). This makes it one of the few deck waterproofing products that meets California’s stringent fire and building codes — critical for balconies over living spaces, roof decks, and any elevated pedestrian surface.
Best Applications
- Balconies over living spaces (SB 326 / SB 721 compliance)
- Roof decks and rooftop patios
- Pool deck surrounds
- Parking structure top decks
- Stairways and elevated walkways
- Any plywood or concrete deck requiring permanent waterproofing
System Context
The laminating resin is Step 3 in the 5-step All Deck Waterproof System. It follows Clear Sealer (Step 1) and Patching Compound (Step 2), is applied together with the Fiberglass Mat (Step 3b), and is followed by Textured Basecoat (Step 4) and UV Shield Finish Resin (Step 5). Each layer builds upon the previous to create a complete waterproof, UV-resistant, slip-resistant walking surface with a 10-Year Warranty.
Pro Tip
Always apply laminating resin in temperatures between 60°F and 90°F. In hot weather, work in smaller sections to prevent premature cure. The fiberglass mat should be fully saturated — no white fibers visible — but avoid pooling excess resin. A properly saturated mat will appear uniformly translucent.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much laminating resin do I need for my deck?
Calculate your total square footage and divide by 50 (the coverage rate per gallon). For a 500 sq ft deck, you’ll need approximately 10 gallons of laminating resin plus the corresponding fiberglass mat.
Can I apply All Deck Laminating Resin over an existing coating?
Yes, provided the existing coating is sound, well-adhered, and properly prepared. Delaminated or peeling coatings must be removed first. Contact AllDeck technical support for specific over-coating recommendations.
What’s the difference between All Deck and a deck stain?
A deck stain (like TWP 1500 or Thompson’s) penetrates wood to provide UV protection but does NOT waterproof. All Deck creates a physical waterproof membrane on top of the substrate — it’s a completely different product category designed for decks over living spaces where water intrusion would cause structural damage.
