ALL DECK Fiberglass Roll for Seamless Waterproofing
Step 3b of the All Deck Waterproof System — the reinforcement embedded in the Laminating Resin (Step 3). 38-inch wide woven fiberglass mat provides tensile strength and crack-bridging capability when saturated with All Deck Laminating Resin. Creates a monolithic waterproof membrane.
Description
All Deck Fiberglass Roll — Structural Reinforcement for Waterproof Membranes
The All Deck Fiberglass Roll is the reinforcement component that transforms liquid laminating resin into a structural waterproof membrane. This 38-inch wide woven fiberglass mat is specifically engineered for deck waterproofing applications, providing exceptional tensile strength, crack-bridging capability, and long-term dimensional stability.
Why Fiberglass Reinforcement Matters
A resin-only coating will eventually crack as the substrate moves with temperature changes and structural loads. The fiberglass mat distributes stress across the entire membrane surface, preventing localized cracking and providing the tensile strength needed to bridge hairline cracks in plywood and concrete substrates. This is the same principle used in boat hulls and industrial tanks — proven waterproofing technology adapted for pedestrian deck surfaces.
Technical Specifications
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Width | 38 inches (standard roll) |
| Material | Woven E-glass fiberglass |
| Weight | 1.5 oz/sq ft |
| Application | Embedded in wet laminating resin |
| Overlap Requirement | Minimum 2 inches at seams |
| System Position | Step 3b of 5 (applied with Laminating Resin, Step 3) |
Application Method
- Apply a coat of All Deck Laminating Resin to the prepared substrate
- Roll out fiberglass mat into the wet resin, overlapping seams by 2 inches minimum
- Saturate the mat completely with additional resin using a roller — no white fibers should be visible
- Work out any air bubbles with a bubble roller or stipple brush
- Allow to cure before applying Textured Basecoat (Step 4)
Available Sizes
Fiberglass mat is available in multiple roll lengths to match your project size, from 50 sq ft (small repairs) up to 20,000+ sq ft (commercial projects). Select the size that best matches your project to minimize waste and seams.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate how much fiberglass mat I need?
Measure your total deck area in square feet, then add 10% for overlaps and waste. The 38-inch width covers approximately 3.17 linear feet of width per pass.
Can I use multiple layers of fiberglass for extra strength?
For high-traffic commercial applications or parking structures, a double-layer system may be specified. Contact AllDeck technical support for multi-layer specifications.
